SOVIET ERA RUSSIAN .916 SILVER WITH GILT TEA AND COFFEE SERVICE FOR 6 (22 PIECES) DECORATED WITH COBALT, BLUE & WHITE ENAMEL IN FLORAL MOTIF 100.32 TROY OUNCES The set was sold previously and returned with understandable complaints of chips and a repair to enamel, and tarnish. I did not see the chips or the repair and the tarnish was easily remedied. The set is absolutely sparkling now, having been thoroughly cleaned of some tarnish that was present. As to enamel issues, there is a repaired area on the side of the sugar bowl on the light blue enamel that is approximately 3/8" by 1/4." Without it having been pointed out to me, I never would have seen it. I have photographed this area for you in photo 5, above.
The coffee pot has three very small chips to the enamel, two of which I have photographed for you above (see photos 6 and 7). The third is about the size of a straight pin head in the cobalt. The other two are about 1/8" in diameter in the cobalt enamel near the base of the pot and these went unnoticed by me initially as well since they are quite small and do not go through the enamel layer to the silver below. Without a loupe and knowing where to look, three people who were working on this set missed it entirely. This set is a show-stopper, a true statement piece for your Russian silver collection and a wonderful investment.
